We often hear warnings about the dangers of the standard American diet and lifestyle. The increased demands on our time compel us to seek more convenient, fast food options that are often highly processed and low in essential nutrients. We often lament the fact that we don’t have time for physical activity, are stressed out and don’t get enough quality sleep. All of these things lead to weight gain and New Year’s resolutions to lose that weight. Perhaps even a bigger issue is that the standard American diet leaves us with nutrient deficiencies making it even more difficult for our bodies to deal with the stresses of modern life. And this is a lifestyle that is becoming more common around the world, not just in the U.S.

But what about when we do everything right? We eat a balanced diet full of fresh produce, get regular physical activity, manage our stress, practice good sleeping habits and get those 8+ hours in and maintain a healthy weight. Are we doing everything we can for good health and getting all the nutrients we need? Possibly, but this is very dependent on what you’re eating and your individual needs. This can be very difficult to know for sure. For a time of year that brings so much joy, the holidays can sure do a number on our health. It is cold and the flu and other viruses are everywhere.  You’re also carrying an extra sugar load from all the delicious holiday treats that seem to surround and follow you.  Maybe you’ve missed a few days or weeks of exercise (after all, it is the holidays), and the family is all coming to your place for the holidays so you better hurry to make sure your house is spotless, decorated like a catalogue, and everyone’s gifts are wrapped and ready to impress. We Challenge You! Get the Attitude for Gratitude

Thanksgiving is often recognized as a day to be thankful and to show our gratitude for everything in our lives. Although it is wonderful to give thanks on this day and to celebrate Thanksgiving with our closest friends and family, we each have so much to be thankful for every day! Taking time out of our day to be appreciative of every person or object in our lives is also proven to make us happier.

If you think about it, it makes sense. I know when I start thinking about all of the wonderful people in my life, the places I’ve been, the opportunities I have and the abundance of tangible things in my possession, I can’t help but smile and feel so blessed!  I saw this quote a while ago and always revert back to it when I catch myself feeling down, “If you woke up tomorrow with what you were thankful for yesterday, what would you have?” If we each spent five minutes of our day being mindful of all of the magnificent blessings in our life, how much happier would we be? Acknowledging all of the good things we have going, quickly diverts our attention to positivity and keeps our smiles bright.

The next time you feel alone or empty, take a few minutes to grab a pen and paper and write down as many things as possible that you are thankful for. Your dog, the clothes on your back, the food in your refrigerator, your children and spouse, your new shoes, your favorite book, your health and well-being and the freedom and opportunity that Reliv can provide.  Whatever it is, give thanks and be grateful. We only have one life to live so why not live every day happily!

As Thanksgiving is approaching and we are paying more attention to giving thanks and being grateful for the abundant blessings in our life, we encourage all of you and ourselves to celebrate giving thanks each day rather than just on Thanksgiving! Seven Years of Blood Sugar Management with GlucAffect

This November marks the 7th anniversary of Reliv’s GlucAffect® nutritional supplement launch.
