How can you give a little at a time to make a big difference at the Next Level Conference this summer in Kansas City? Let’s get ready for the Rally for the Mission: Game Edition!

Roger Rodriguez“Every year as the season of Lent approaches, we are usually asked to make a sacrifice. Usually I give up something food related, but this year I decided to help out the Reliv Kalogris Foundation. I go to Starbucks several times a week to work on my Reliv business and I buy myself a drink while there. Continue reading “Change for the Challenge”

Reliv Kalogris Foundation Responds to Typhoon Haiyan

Online donations in November to be directed to Philippine disaster relief

Dear Distributor:

The devastating typhoon that struck the Philippines has caused untold damage and impacted countless lives. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy.

At Reliv, we have a special connection to the Philippines. Not only is it one of our 15 countries of operation, it is also home to 100+ Reliv Kalogris Foundation feeding programs that provide quality nutrition to thousands of needy children every day.

First the good news: many of our Philippine Distributors have contacted us to let us know they are safe. In addition, most feeding programs, including the RKF buildings in Cavite and Welfareville, escaped without damage. Our office in Manila was also unharmed by the storm and our corporate staff has reported that all employees are safe. They are actively participating in relief efforts and preparing to transport water and Reliv products via bus to affected areas.

Unfortunately, we have not yet received news from Philippine Distributors and feeding programs near Tacloban City in the direct path of the storm. We hope and pray for the best. Stay tuned to the RKF Facebook page for updates.

How You Can Help

To support the efforts now underway in the Philippines, all RKF donations made online in November will be directed to Typhoon Haiyan relief. Click here to make a donation.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and thank you for the outpouring of concern you have shown this week. Together we can help restore hope in the Philippines.

Building Hope

The Reliv Kalogris Foundation has completed its latest building project: a nutrition center for impoverished children in Welfareville, a depressed area in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. The Foundation raised funds for the project through last year’s annual Rally for the Mission at the 2012 Reliv International Conference.

Through our partnership with Mount Zion Church of the Firstborn (MZCF), this building will be used for the distribution of daily Reliv shakes, two hot meals per week, choir practice, worship services, day care, life skills training and as a clinic for visiting doctors. Thanks to the generosity of Reliv Distributors, these children can look forward to a brighter future.

In Welfareville, shanties house as many as 10 family members, exposing all inhabitants to contagious diseases. Quality nutrition is in vital demand. Of the 60,000 people that live in Welfareville, only 160 children benefit from our program. With your help we hope to add to that number in the years to come. Learn more.

RKF Chairman R. Scott Montgomery hands out cups of Reliv Now® for Kids to needy children. For many of them, this life-giving nutrition is the only way they recognize the care and concern of others. The three-story RFK Nutrition Center stands as a symbol of hope while providing needy children with the nourishment they need. Welfareville is made up of shanties covering approximately 250 acres with the skyscrapers of downtown Manila as their backdrop.

Himig Pag-asa Children’s Choir performed songs of hope and joy at the building dedication ceremony. These children are thriving with better health and social activity. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new nutrition center took place in May. Reliv staff members Shannon Jurenka, Reggie Ament and Scott Montgomery were on hand to celebrate the event. The group from Reliv headquarters was greeted by a parade of children carrying signs of gratitude.

Be Kind to Humankind, Part 2

In Part 2 of our Be Kind to Humankind Week posts, we’re taking a look at some tangible ways that you can be part of the mission of the Reliv Kalogris Foundation and some things you might not have known about the impact the Foundation has around the world.

How Can I Help the Kalogris Founation?
Are you wondering how you can assist the Reliv Kalogris Foundation to Nourish Our World (link) ? By banding together and each person giving what they can. We try and make it easy and convenient for our Donors when they are able to donate by offering the following:

  • Become a recurring monthly donor at any amount. You have the option to set up a recurring monthly donation for $1, $10, $40, whatever fits your budget. Big or small, it all adds up and can be life changing for the children in our program.
  • Round up your next order in the shopping cart on Next time you place an order online, how about making it a nice even total? That’s easy!
  • Host a Network to Nourish (link) event in your area. These events can be as simple as a bake sale or silent auction. Find something that interests you and your friends and have fun with it!
  • Sign up and attend the Annual Rally for the Mission each year at International Conference. This is the Foundation’s only fundraiser where funds are used solely for building projects around the world. The Reliv 25 International Conference was a blast! Check out these highlights from the event’s Rally for the Mission to benefit the Reliv Kalogris Foundation.
Now that you know some fun and easy ways to be part of the movement, here are some interesting facts that you may not have known about the Reliv Kalogris Foundation.

Did You Know?

  • Reliv International established the Reliv Kalogris Foundation in 1995 as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization in honor of the late Dr. Theodore “Ted” Kalogris who created the nutritional formula that would become Reliv Classic ®, the company’s original product.
  • Rather than simply giving money to a single cause, the Foundation works at a grassroots level, providing its own nutritional products to individuals who have been nominated by Relìv Distributors for assistance.
  • Since its founding, the Foundation has distributed more than $34 million of its own nutritional products.
  • The Foundation provides full support of more than 270 nutritional programs in nine countries.
  • To date, the Foundation nourishes over 42,000 people internationally on a daily basis.
  • In 2012, 97% of donations went directly to support program services – well above the 75% criteria established set by the American Institute of Philanthropy.
  • Recipients are families right here in the United States in the throes of financial difficulties who need help maintaining good health. In addition, a significant portion of the Foundation’s donations goes to support nutrition stations in impoverished countries.

Be Kind to Humankind Week: The Reliv Kalogris Foundation

A Company that Gives Back
The Reliv Kalogris Foundation is the charitable arm of Reliv International. Since 1995, the Kalogris Foundation has distributed more than $34 million of its nutritional product, in more than 270 feeding programs. We feed more than 42,000 daily, giving strong testimony to the power of individuals to collectively make a difference in people’s lives. Reliv and its Distributors make this possible. Being a part of Reliv International you not only build a future for yourself and your family, but also help build futures for those in need. By working as a Reliv Distributor, you can make a difference in your own community and around the world.

Raising the Bar by Fundraising
The Foundation encourages Distributors to host an event in their community to help raise awareness for the Foundation, in addition to increasing awareness of your Reliv business. These events can be as simple as a bake sale or silent auction. Chose something that you enjoy doing and have fun with it!

Network to Nourish
Last year, several Reliv Distributors hosted events in their communities. These events brought in more than $8,000 to the Foundation. The Distributors not only had a great time, they also were thrilled to use these events to promote Reliv and the work of the Foundation. These Network to Nourish events are a great way to host a local even that will make a global impact.

Getting Local
A group of Distributors (Nicola Ash & Nick Hooker, Rosemary Bell, Joyce Betita, Roger & Donna Brady, Quila Buhler, Carlieta Flaherty, George & Debbi Grenz, Stan Grimes, Crismon & Vivienne Lewis, Peter Light, Seth & Anne Light, Don Prather & Holly Stern and Ida Wilson) hosted an evening of dessert and live music this past month. 45 people attended the event, 18 Distributors and 27 guests raised $575 for the Foundation. The group hopes to make this an annual event. They used this as an opportunity to raise awareness about the Foundation and encourage donations, but also show people the heart of Reliv.

Tom Pinnock, a Four-Time Platinum Ambassador from Orlando was honored at an event hosted by his down line during International Conference. Tickets for the “Let’s Party with Goofy” event were sold in advance and the evening with friends ended up raising over $750 to benefit the Kalogris Foundation.

What Can I Do?
Contact the Foundation today if you would like to host a Network to Nourish event and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
See the faces of children now enjoying better lives thanks to the nutritional support of the Reliv Kalogris Foundation.

Hope for a Better Tomorrow: The Reliv Kalogris Foundation

Welfareville, a Philippine community of 60,000 squatters living on government-owned land subdivided into 42 blocks, is made up of small shanties that normally accommodate 6-10 family members. The overcrowded environment and lack of resources produce poor living conditions and an increased risk of contagious diseases. The children grow up in an atmosphere of little hope.

But right in the heart of block 37, under the direction of Pastor George and Blessie Padilla, 160 children in the Reliv Kalogris Foundation’s nutrition program are receiving a hot meal two times a week from Pastor George’s church and a daily cup of Reliv Now® for Kids from the RKF. In spite of their living conditions and daily challenges, these children show their gratitude by singing of their joy and sense of hope. Many Reliv Distributors have heard the Himig Pag-asa Children’s Choir in the Welfareville video played at the past two conferences. We are excited to announce that Welfareville is the location for our next building project.

Building a Future

Groundbreaking has already taken place for the new building that will provide a safe place for the children to receive their daily shakes. This simple three-story structure will protect the kids from the intense heat in the dry season and exposure to rain during the wet months. It will also house:

  • a daycare center to help prepare the kids for formal school
  • community activities and youth events
  • mini-clinics held by visiting doctors to provide free medical care
  • livelihood training programs for parents
  • …and a place for the choir to practice!

Amid challenges of building in such a confined space, the building is progressing and should be completed by late spring. RKF Chairman R. Scott Montgomery and Director Reggie Ament will attend the dedication in May and we will be featuring the finished building at the Reliv 25 International Conference in Orlando. This project was made possible by donations from the 2012 Rally for the Mission. To those who made their tax-deductible contributions, thank you! This annual fundraiser is much more than a morning of  entertainment at conference; it is also a means to provide a safe and healthy environment for another group of Reliv Kids. See you at this year’s Rally in Orlando!

Love in Action: The Reliv Kalogris Foundation

Aurora Paredes, Dallas, Texas

The Reliv Kalogris Foundation is so close to our hearts. We are literally changing lives in Haiti and around the world. It’s love in action. The moment we heard about Reliv, we were blessed, and we have an obligation to share these wonderful products with
