How Commitment Leads To Success

RyanCommitment.jpg

By CEO Ryan Montgomery

Resolution season is here and we can all recall famous quotes on how commitment is the key to achieving any of your goals in the New Year. Sometimes they can be cliche, but we all know these declarations are true.

“Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality.” Abraham Lincoln

“Most people fail, not because of lack of desire, but because of lack of commitment.” Vince Lombardi

To me, commitment simply means doing what you said you were going to do; yet, commitment is the hardest thing for everyone. Saying you’re going to do something is quite different than actually doing it. The “doing it” is the hard part. Life is busier than ever trying to constantly multitask, so focusing on what’s important is a challenge, but essential. What we focus on will grow. As the saying goes, “People are often a mile wide and an inch thick,” which means we over-commit or don’t have our true priorities clear and allow things to get in the way. It’s easy to start something and it has become increasingly easy to quit. Signing up for something is as easy as saying “I’m IN.” Quitting is as easy as saying “I’m OUT.” Some people start and essentially quit in the same day because they never take the first step. As my mother used to say, “It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.”

We all witness the challenge of commitment every year with the most popular “get fit” resolutions. The prevailing belief is that getting fit will lead to better health—no argument there. Motivation and the desire to be fit helps us get started, but commitment is what drives behavior after our belief, motivation and mood fades. This is usually where the breakdown occurs. We’ve all heard stories of purchasing an annual gym membership with only one visit on January 2nd.

Commitment leads to action which leads to results, whether it be in your business or getting fit. Anything worth achieving comes with actions you might not always want to do…such as going to the gym after work or following up with customers and Distributors. We all agree that consistency with certain actions is necessary to getting fit or building retention and growth in this business. Everybody wants success, but only a few are willing to do the daily actions that are necessary to succeed. Commitment is about choices—to do or to procrastinate. If a goal is truly worth achieving, we must choose to commit to actions that bring us closer to it.

It’s January 2019. I encourage you to make a 7-month commitment to qualify for Hawaii. Create a plan of action for each month from now until July. Familiarize yourself with the Hawaii Promotion point system if you haven’t already, and plan your path with specific goals to earn points for sponsoring and rank advancement. You can even break it down into “points per month.” If you’re just now getting started, 60 points wins your way which is at least 9 points per month for the next 7 months.

I may sound like I have all the answers for this subject, but truth is, I don’t. I’m not sure anyone can truly claim to be 100% committed to multiple goals all the time. Honestly, I’m writing this article for myself just as much as I’m writing it for you. My resolution for 2019 is to commit to daily action to modernize Reliv and make our business better every day. Together, let’s commit to prosperity and growth in 2019! There’s no better time than right now!

Start The New Year Off Right

By President of Sales & Marketing Tom Pinnock

It’s a new year and that means getting focused on what you want to accomplish in the next 12 months. Where do you want your business to be by the end of 2019, and what are you going to do to get there? Here are a few things that I did to help me build a worldwide distribution network that paid me millions of dollars. It just might help you too!

For starters, let’s be clear on who we are. We are a wellness company that focuses on three things: We help people better their health with our powerful nutritional products, we excel in helping people become successful entrepreneurs, and together we nourish the hungry children of the world through the Reliv Kalogris Foundation. That’s the lineup that I fell in love with more than 30 years ago, and the fact is I’m more excited about our mission today than ever before. Those are our three pillars, and they are rooted in our sincere belief that we can make an impact on the world by raising up a community of positive people who work together and who all share this important vision.

I think it’s also important to understand the way we do these things. Simply put, we do our business by finding out what other people want and then working hard to help them get it. They might be looking for better health, more income, a chance to travel, friendships, a way to give back or just have fun. Whatever it is, I am confident that our heartfelt and hardworking community can help them find a healthier and happier life. After all, that’s what we do.

So set your goals for 2019 and decide where you want to be by the end of the year. Can you see yourself as a new Presidential Director sitting on the beaches of Hawaii surrounded by your family and Reliv friends? Now that’s a pretty picture, but to get there you need to take action every day.  That means you need to stay plugged in to the company, learn from your up-line, and support your local systems.

Pretty simple isn’t it? Make your goals, know how to share Reliv from your heart, and consistently talk to people every day. Do these things and I’ll see you in Hawaii, and you better believe we’re going to celebrate. Aloha!

How to Build a Successful Business Structure That Works!

WomenMentorship2

By CEO Ryan Montgomery

Partnership is a key foundation in Reliv, especially the partnership between you and the company. When both parties have a clear understanding of the strengths and specific duties they bring to the table — that’s when a partnership works best. For 30 years, Reliv has been committed to upholding our end with these three promises:

  1. We offer superior nutritional products and deliver them on time.
  2. We offer the best compensation plan in the industry and get you paid on time.
  3. We offer exceptional office support with marketing tools, customer service, accounting, technology, etc.

We have committed to these three promises for the past 30 years and will stick by them always. This is our structure, our simple system that works.

Assuming you desire to build a business with Reliv, your role is to develop and build YOUR organization, and collectively, all of your organizations make up one Reliv organization. Your #1 role as a distributor leader is to establish a “structure” for YOUR business that YOU believe in. You’re all “independent” entrepreneurs which makes you the CEO of your own business. You are free to do what you believe works to attract new people and develop them into successful leaders for tomorrow.

There are many online and offline methods from hotel meetings, in-home meetings, webinars, conference calls, 3-way calls, social media, lunch-and-learns, beehives, special events, Super Saturdays, Girlfriends’ Getaways, conferences…and as leaders, you must decide what structure and combination of methods are going to work for you. And you can feel safe to build your business as you see fit. I encourage you to work with uplines, downlines and sidelines with a spirit of cooperation, but at the end of the day, you have to incorporate and pursue a structure that you believe will work. Nobody can sustain anything that they believe in halfheartedly. You have to build a structure that you take ownership of and have 100% belief.

In our business, one MUST have a system to get people started strong, or onboarded. You can be the best recruiter, but if you don’t get your new recruit started with a clear and simple plan of action with structure, they’ll never get off square one. People need a path. They need a structure to plug into for learning, motivation, growth and recognition…as well as a structure to plug their new people into. When you know your structure and daily/weekly/monthly plan of action, new people will follow. People follow leaders that know where they’re going and how to get there.

I believe there are two basic fundamentals in our business. First, you must have a compelling Message to share that attracts people to join your mission. I believe you can check that box. Second, you must have a structure for new people to embrace, plug into and duplicate.  The structure in your organization may not be identical to another’s, and that’s okay…the key is to have structure. Honestly, the similarities among organizations will far outweigh the differences.

We are partners, all of us. We succeed and celebrate together when we all do our part in growing Reliv and more importantly, when we nourish our world.

Eat Your Way To A Better Sleep!

sleep-web

By Fit3 head Coach Tina Van Horn

Long workweeks are interfering with sleep for millions of Americans, according to an article from CNBC. The article showed that most people who work longer hours get less than six hours of sleep a night, far below the seven and a half to eight hours recommended by medical experts. We even dived deep into this issue in the latest Reliv Podcast. Workday stress plays a key role in robbing people of restful, restorative sleep. But a healthy diet and regular exercise could help defuse the effects of stress once your head hits the pillow. The following foods boost the neurotransmitter serotonin, which can actually promote sleep.

Whole grains, such as whole wheat, brown rice and oats. Try a bedtime snack high in complex carbohydrates to help ease your way to dreamland.

Milk with honey. Milk contains tryptophan, which converts to serotonin in the body and helps promote the deep stages of sleep. Turkey, egg whites and tuna also contain tryptophan.

B Vitamins, especially B6 and B12, help reduce stress that can lead to trouble sleeping. Whole grains, wheat germ, tuna, walnuts, peanuts, bananas, sunflower seeds, and blackstrap molasses are all rich in B vitamins.

Magnesium can also help reduce the stress and nervousness that interfere with sleep. Magnesium-rich foods include kelp, wheat bran, almonds, cashews and blackstrap.

Foods To Avoid Before Bed

While some foods can improve sleep, these foods near bedtime can make sleep difficult or even impossible.

Coffee and other caffeine-containing foods, such as chocolate, cocoa, soft drinks and some over-the-counter and prescription medications.

Spicy foods that may cause gastrointestinal reflux or heartburn.

Overly sweet or fatty foods that can also cause indigestion and/or bloating.

Alcohol. Although it can make you feel sleepy at first, alcohol disturbs sleep patterns later in the night.

Along with eating well, adding in routine exercise throughout your week is proven to greatly improve your chances of getting a good night’s sleep. Exercise works wonders to relieve stress and relax the mind. A common contributor to bad sleep is high-stress levels.

A nationally representative sample of more than 2,600 men and women, taken by the National Sleep Foundation, found that 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity a week provided a 65 percent improvement in sleep quality.

With Reliv, working out and eating well has never been easier. With delicious shakes to help you get protein and nutrients, and online workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home, you’ll be sleeping better in no time! Learn more about healthy sleep habits in the Reliv Podcast.

How To Find A Mentor & Be A Mentor

WomenMentorship1

By President of Sales & Marketing Tom Pinnock

Finding your mentor is one of the most important first steps in your Reliv business, so reach out to your upline and don’t try to do this business by yourself. Grab your sponsor or anyone in your upline and have them take your hand and walk you step-by-step as you get started. If your sponsor isn’t willing to do that, keep reaching up until you find someone who is willing to help you!  The fact is, a good sponsor will take the fear factor out of doing the business, but a great sponsor will ease the intimidation by being there for every moment as you get started. This is especially important in the beginning when you may not have all the answers yet and you are still navigating unchartered territory.

Furthermore, I’ve always believed that teaching by “showing” is better than simply “telling” someone new to the business. It’s much easier to duplicate an action than a concept. Once you have identified your mentor, I encourage you to ask them to show you how to make a list and make appointments. You can make appointments on the phone, online or in person. Keep an open mind and allow yourself to be mentored. That way, you can be the best mentor to someone in your downline in the future.

If you think about it, mentoring is a simple concept. Mentorship is a relationship in which an experienced individual helps someone with less experience develop specific skills to enhance professional and personal growth. This relationship is essential in a healthy Distributor force and one of the main ingredients to your organization’s growth.

Remember, great mentors are up-to-date in their network marketing skills and support their organization members to maximize their potential, improve their performance, and help them become the best version of themselves! Mentors lead by example to create lasting impressions on their mentees. Be a great mentor and you will build a great organization. It is as simple as that!

How Engagement Will Help You Succeed

OfficeEngagement1

By Chief Executive Officer Ryan Montgomery

Effective communication is an impactful and intangible tool that sets a company’s results apart from others. Yes, our product line and marketing plan make us unique, but we live in an era with multiple channels of communication that can blur the lines. By using the right channel and effective communication, engagement increases drastically and we are ultimately able to be better networkers.

Life has only gotten busier since I started at Reliv two decades ago. It seems that there are more missed communications now than ever, which leads to a lack of engagement in our community.

Make sure you’re connected with all of Reliv’s forms of communicating with the field:

This list demonstrates the incredible advantage we have in accessing today’s technology. However, communications are still missing our target audience because of a lack of engagement. So, who is at fault? Is the communicator not effective or is the listener not engaged?

The answer is probably a little bit of both—at every company. At Reliv, we are committed to a streamlined and simplified approach to our communications. We never want to send too many messages that people can’t keep up with, and we certainly do not want to under-communicate either. I’m a believer in over-communicating as a company because a message needs to be heard more than once for it to sink in…six times psychologists say! Which means we all need to be better listeners and engagers.

In our business, engagement with your upline and downline is paramount, but it’s also important to engage with Reliv Corporate. Be sure to have all the channels mentioned above turned on. Staying plugged in with Corporate communications is the only way to know what’s going on. Subscribe to the emails and text messages, follow us on social media, and navigate the website and mobile app so that you know where to find all the business success training tools you need. Being engaged keeps you informed of the monthly promotions and what’s next on the events calendar. Information is king, and engagement is the key that opens the door to information.

As always, we encourage you to send us your ideas to help Reliv improve communication and tips for Distributors to stay engaged. Comment on your favorite communications platform below!

4 Strength Training Tips Everyone Should Know

StrengthTraining-web (1110 x 457 px)

By Fit3 Head Coach Tina Van Horn

For many people, turning 40 can be a dreaded milestone. For the health and fitness conscientious, however, turning 30 could be considered the new 40.

Why 30, you may ask? From the time you were born until around the time you turn 30, your muscles grow larger and stronger. But during your 30s, you naturally start to lose muscle mass and function. This is called sarcopenia or “muscle loss with aging.”

The good news? Muscle-strengthening activities help increase or maintain your muscle mass and power. Steadily increasing weight and repetitions will give you even more benefits, no matter your age.

That’s why, if you haven’t already, it’s time to get serious about adding strength training to your workouts. I know machines at the gym can be confusing, so don’t even look at the intimidating guys (and ladies) who hang out in the free weights area!
