Since 2009, Reliv employees have been participating in an event known as the Reliv Week of Caring. This is an annual event where groups of employees visit local organizations to volunteer for the day. Over the years we have contributed more than 1600 hours of service to more than 20 local organizations!
We have contributed our time, money, donations and other services to help a variety of causes including children, teens, animals, the homeless, health and the environment. This year was no exception! Some of the highlights from this year’s activities include:
- Employees were able to help a family that is suffering from the terrible disease ALS. They spent the day at the family’s home and helped with a variety of household tasks, those that ALS sufferers unfortunately can no longer do for themselves. The volunteer coordinator for the ALS Foundation sent a very complimentary note the following day thanking everyone for the help that was extremely needed. Employees working that day also felt it was such a rewarding experience. This was truly a win-win for all involved!
- During this year’s visit to Open Door Animal Sanctuary, a local animal shelter, employees helped clean cages and other areas where newborn animals are isolated, spent time socializing with the animals and collected monetary donations for this wonderful no-kill animal shelter. One of our employees also took beautiful pictures of all the homeless animals awaiting adoption. The organization loved them so much that they decided to use them on their website and in a variety of other places to showcase the animals, which will hopefully lead to many successful adoptions! We have also learned they used them in a big Mother’s Day card campaign that raised a lot of money to help the animals. Kudos to our in-house photographer Amie Schilson!
- During a local baseball game, employees walked the stadium collecting recyclables. The “4 A Greener Game” initiative results in 1000’s of bags of recyclables collected, and is a great contributor to our clean environment. Employees worked hard all day and felt it was a great way to give back to the local community. The Cardinals organization is trying to educate fans to recycle and have indicated this initiative is making a huge difference.
The feedback we receive each year from employees who participate in the Week of Caring is always extremely positive, and the organizations provide such appreciative comments for the assistance they receive that we plan to continue this event every year. We truly feel we are making a difference in the local community. Even volunteering for just one day can TRULY make a difference in someone’s life! Giving back is one of Reliv’s core values and the Week of Caring is just one example of how the company does that. I truly appreciate working for a company that makes this a priority!
