The leaves are starting to turn and the air is crisp. Pumpkin spice everything is hitting the shelves and making its way into our homes. Fall is officially here! What better time to get outside and active with your family than in the breezy, bright red and orange, 60-degree weather? Here are some ideas t get you started:

Visit the Local Pumpkin Patch: A personal favorite! We look forward to going to the pumpkin patch every year, especially now that we have a toddler to tag along. The pumpkin patch near us has a slightly haunted tunnel, farm animals, photo opportunities and, of course, lots of pumpkins! The fun doesn’t end there. Make a whole night out of it by carving elaborate pumpkins and baking pumpkin seeds. Click here for some healthy pumpkin seed recipes!

Make a Bonfire: As the leaves fall, so do some of the branches. Have some fun cleaning up the yard as a family and reward yourselves with a big bonfire and s’mores at the end of the evening. For added fun: why not make a whole dinner over the fire?

Go Apple Picking: Apple pie anyone? What a great way to spend a Saturday! Most apple-picking farms offer fun activities for the family while you’re there. Bonus: come home and try baking a homemade pie with all of your apples. Click here for a delicious apple pie recipe!

Play a Game of Touch Football: Touchdown! Invite the neighbors over for a pickup game of touch football. In season and guaranteed to bring a good time, touch football is a great way to get everybody running around and staying active.

Take a Hike: Trekking a new trail is always a great way to get the whole family engaged and active. During the fall, it is especially fun because the scenery is unbeatable. Get your kids even more involved by going on a scavenger hunt for the prettiest leaves. Check out these fall leaf crafts to try when you get home!
